An internationally recognized expert in the areas of employee motivation, corporate culture change, and organization measurement, he has written and spoken extensively on aligning human resource practices and business performance. In addition to heading Watson Wyatt’s Organization
Effectiveness practice, Dr. Pfau has directed the firm’s groundbreaking
Human Capital Index study, which demonstrates superior HR practices
as a lead indicator of financial performance. In addition, he authored
Employee Commitment and the Bottom Line and is the co-author of the
recently published Prior to joining Watson Wyatt, Dr. Pfau was Managing Director of Hay Group’s Research for Management division where he was in charge of all the firm's organization measurement activities. In 1997 and 1998, he led the team that conducted Fortune magazine’s Global Survey of Corporate Reputations and authored Human Resources Lessons from the World’s Most Admired Companies. Dr. Pfau's clients have included ACNielsen, Alstom Power, Ashland Incorporated, Avaya, Bank Boston, Wellcome Pharmaceuticals, Chemical Bank, The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, DuPont-Merck Pharmaceuticals, General Electric Medical Systems, IBM, IMS Health, Ketchum Public Relations, MasterCard International, Moody’s Investors Service, Nielsen Media, Prudential Insurance Company, Readers’ Digest, Reed Elsevier, Scudder Investments, TIME Inc., and The Timken Company.
